  • Hot Loaf

My finger is still severely swollen.  This past Sunday, Mom and Mike both ganged up on me at dinner and convinced me to make an appointment with an orthopedic doctor.  Called Dr. Sharkey's office per numerous referrals from most people at work, and managed to get an appointment this Thursday morning.  So, we will see how that goes.  It's nearly impossible to bend right now.  Before, I could bend it a little.  Hope it's not getting worse... Dr. Sharkey's office asked if I could get a copy of the x-rays from the clinic, so I picked those up yesterday.  Kind of neat looking o.O

Mike and I have been working on building our recent 40k purchases.  He's still got a ways to go on his army, but my three ships are almost complete.  Only have a third of one left to do.  Should get pictures of those up sometime.

For Mother's Day, I baked Mom a cheesecake from scratch.  I don't care for it, but I know she loves them.  She mentions how she misses the one Dad used to make, so I set out to make one as good as his.  Apparently, mine was delicious :)  Told her I'd make it again whenever.

I didn't get to share this picture before because I didn't want to spoil the surprise I had for Sarah.  She and I talked about making bottlecap magnets once before, so I took the initiative after she left to make some for the both of us.  I had a collection from the past several months, and separated them all out to see how many I could make.

Quite a few beers had been had!  Bud Light and Yuengling were the front runners, seperated only by 2 beers... with Yuengling on top!  (Of course! :) )  Made a set of magnets for the both of us, and gave the rest to Scott for one of his son's collections.

Hung out with Mike and three of his friends one Saturday night.  We played a drinking game called power hour.  Cory put together 60 animated cartoon intros (45-55 seconds a piece), back-to-back, and you are supposed to drink a shot of beer after each one.  Doesn't sound too bad, right?  Well, I made it through 3 beers in 20 minutes, and I was super drunk (I won the race! but Cory ended up winning the marathon.)  I think I finished one more beer over the last 40 minutes of the game, while Cory and Ysh went through 4+ more.  Dent had gone out before me (woo!)

Apparently, I took this picture while Mike was driving us all back to our respective locations.  At least I got the front seat, eh?

Ayla woke me up bright and early at 7am on my day off this weekend.  Well, she must've attempted to wake me up about 20 minutes prior, I only noticed at 7.  She peed all over the bed... and apparently even onto some of the carpet.  I spent the rest of the day washing everything on the bed: 5 pillows, 2 comforters (one down), 1 blanket, and 2 sheets.  Woo.  Thanks kitten.  Probably going to need to borrow Mom's carpet wet vac cleaner to get it entirely out of the floor.

  • We don't seem to have your vehicle...

Mike and I were back down in Orlando a couple of weekends ago to hang out with Cory and Krista.  Had a great time!  Lots of drinking and partying with their friends the first night, then lots of nerding out on Saturday.  Went to Sci-Fi City (http://sci-fi-city.com/) in search of minis for me.  Ended up finding them! and Nightfall was on sale for 8$... instead of the normal 40$ at Mega Comics.  Score!  Went back to their house for some gaming.

Their kitten loves Mike's pillow in the guest bedroom :)

This past weekend was our second trip up to South Carolina, this time for Greg and Alyssa's wedding!  Mike and I had a passenger this time: Todd.  One of Greg's friends who Mike also knows.  Topher and Choly were also in attendance, although they didn't have to leave as early as we did.  Mike was supposed to be there for the rehearsal at 5, so we left at 930.  Figured that'd be plenty of time... until we made it to Stark.  Rain was coming down in sheets, as it had been since just about the moment we left town.  Traffic was backed-up like I've never seen before, and it wasn't until an hour of sitting in said traffic that we found out why: Stark was flooded.  We ended up getting made to go an alternate route by a soaked police officer.  Of course, that wasn't until after I attempted to cut around him to see if we could make it through anyway... yeah, lifted trucks were having issues, Blue Thunder would've just sunk.
Continued our drive the longer way around, and made it to the tux shop at 5 for Mike to try on and pick up his tan tux before heading to the rehearsal... which happened to be in Clinton, SC, another 45 minutes down the highway.  Thankfully, they pushed the rehearsal back another half hour, and when we finally arrived, he made it just in time to not have missed anything terribly important.

The plan was an outside wedding at this little pond under a gazebo.  It was lightly raining during rehearsal, so that should've tipped someone off about Saturday...

Afterward was some bad Mexican food (CURSES!- will make more sense later), and then to the hotel to finally check-in around 930 at night.

Almost the entire wedding party was on the 4th floor of our hotel, and those who were on the 3rd floor came up Friday night to hang out.  Lots of drinking was had!  Another one of Greg's friends, Gary, came over to our room with Todd, Choly, and Topher to play Cards Against Humanity.  Think the racist, inappropriate, adult version of Apples to Apples.  It was awesome!  I need a copy of this game! :D

Saturday morning, Topher, Choly and I went into town to see Iron Man 3 (which was really good!), while Mike hung out with his family watching everyone else drink and shoot skeet.  We all reconvened for a bit before the wedding, and headed out to the nearby pond... where it promptly began to rain about a half hour before the wedding was supposed to start.  All of the guests were cramped together under the reception hall's covered porch, and yet they still managed to make enough room to hold the ceremony there as there was no way the rain would be letting up any time soon.

The reception was different than any of the other weddings I've been to.  Food was just around on various tables, and you'd just go pick and choose the things you wanted with tiny little plates.  No buffet, or "this table's turn to eat", or assigned seating even.  The spinach artichoke dip was to die for tho!  They had a bunch of cupcakes, too, although they had fruit fillings :(  I should've had a gator one...  Had such a blast!  Lots of drinking (shotgunned my first beer ever, and there's a video as soon as I get it from Choly), some dancing (even got Mike to dance with me!!)

Topher double fisting jellybeans and beer.

All the boys brought their guns.

Went out for some Red Robin with KK and Chad, first time I've seen them since November :o  Headed back to my house for some Red Dragon Inn :)  Hung out with them for dinner the other day, gave La Tienda a shot at their Mexican food, and was severely disappointed.  Apparently KK and Chad both love it... Mike and I couldn't see why.  I know people say refried beans don't usually taste good, but these actually did taste like vomit.  Oh well.

Mom had taken a stray cat in, got him all fixed up, and found him a nice home in Stark.  He was super friendly, and pretty cute :)

Scott came by to visit at work, and we got him to hug Dave :)

Finally got my tires replaced on my car.  While we were driving to SC this weekend, the steering wheel started getting really shaky.  On the way back, it was almost unbearable.  Apparently, a bubble had shown up on my front driver side tire, and a small one had started forming on the rear.  The people at Tires Plus were surprised we got back in one piece.  Shouldn't be an issue again for another 5 years+!

  • Box of Wrong

I got quite a few people with my April Fool's Day blog post.  Notable ones included James a mere 3 minutes after posting, Jennifer at work two days after posting and Facebook comments acknowledging the joke, and Sarah (@justgotspaid) a whole 5 days after posting.  I didn't get Mom with it at all, which ended up a very funny phone call.  She said she knew right away from the post title that it was fake, and said "If you got married, that'd be great.  But it sure as heck isn't happening in Scotland, and you definitely are NOT moving to DC!!"  I actually haven't gotten so many reads on a single post in such a short period of time.  I think it was 30 after 45 minutes?  Not bad!

My 40K army is completely painted!... Well they were until Mike and I ordered more miniatures online >.>  He had to start on his Necrons sometime!  Mine look badass, though!

Had the health faire at work today, where I got awesome numbers once again!  I love going to this event every year.  The first year they recommended I add more fruit to my diet, so I did.  Last year it was veggies, and I did.  This year my goal is to add more whole grains.  Time to exchange that white bread and pasta for some whole wheat and couscous :)

Speaking of healthiness, Mike and I have been doing stadiums three times a week, consistently!  We've exchanged a day or two for Kanapaha Park, and last night it was my neighborhood, but we're keeping up with working out :D

Ayla was running to greet me at the door one night when I arrived home, and I noticed a little pooch on her swinging back and forth.  I decided it was time to get both kitties a bit healthier by not free-feeding them anymore, and changing them to a better, more nutritious food.  After much research, I decided upon Simply Nourish.  I've been gradually adding it to their current food, and they love it!  They don't even eat all of their old food anymore.  Probably because they're getting the nutrition they need from the new food :)

Severely sprained my finger from a graceful fall onto my concrete porch last Monday.  I was cleaning up, and started to fall.  Held my hand out to catch myself, and my middle finger was the only one that didn't land properly.  Instead, it was squashed between my hand and the floor, and twisted to the side.  I iced the crap out of it, but it didn't seem to be getting any better, so yesterday I finally decided to go get it x-rayed.  Turned out not to be broken, and they put a splint on it to help it heal.  Hurts like a bitch :P  Not to mention it's difficult to type, and I can't play any WASD-movement games or ride my moto :(

George came over a few weekends ago and helped me put in my baseboards, finally!  They look so good :D

This past week was telecommunicator appreciation week, so breakfast and lunch were each prepared 2 days of the week.  Breakfast was Monday and today, so I missed out on one of them, but I'm kind of glad I did.  The microwaved pancakes weren't very good, and I got sick after eating :/  The catered BBQ lunches on Tuesday and Wednesday were awesome tho :D

This past Saturday was one of the most exciting Mike and I've had in awhile.  His mailbox had been run over a day or two earlier.  Looked almost deliberate by the tracks, but hopefully it mucked up that person's car.  We went to Lowes where he bought a new post and box, we got it all set up outside.  Decided to stop over at my Mom's house to see her new cat, and pick up some furniture things she didn't want anymore.  Mike had previously mentioned that he could put whatever she wanted out on his curb and people would pick it up.

We packed up her car, dropped the stuff off at Mike's (which was all gone almost instantaneously) and headed up to my house to get some things I didn't want anymore.  As we were leaving my street, someone rear-ended me.  The driver got out of her car, and I realized it was Jackie from highschool.  Random meeting!  Almost an hour later, insurance companies had been called and everything was getting settled, so we headed back to Mike's.  The few additional things placed on the curb were gone in minutes, and we drove back over to my Mom's.  Thankfully, she wasn't too upset about her car, it was mostly just cosmetic damage (and totally not my fault!)  Packed up a couple more things for Mike's curb, dropped them off (also gone momentarily), ate dinner with my parents, and headed to my house.

We played some Gears of War (we're going through all three on insane since neither of us have before), and at 11pm we were just about to put the game down when Topher called Mike.  He said deputies were at the house, the fence was busted, and that he needed to get down there.  We drove on over, and really had almost no part in what was going on whatsoever.  However, we were able to piece together what happened over the next two and a half hours.

Apparently, a couple were driving back from a party down Mike's street.  They had an argument, the woman got out to walk, and instead of driving away, the man decided to hit her with her own car into Mike's fence.  The best part?  This is the second time this man has done this to this woman.  What a pair of idiots, eh?  She bloodily stumbled around Mike's lawn, but no one was home.  Headed to the next-door neighbor who didn't want to let her in, but called the authorities.

Those little yellow things all scattered around are pieces of crime tape marking off blood splatters.  At least we stopped to get smoothies after :)

I've been listening to the series A Song of Ice and Fire on audio book for awhile now.  I just finished book two, and was moving onto book three (or what I thought was book three), when I really didn't understand a single thing that was going on.  Events that had never happened were mentioned, certain people had been killed or injured, which was all crazy talk from my standpoint.  Turned out I had been listening to the first several hours of the fourth book, rather than the third -_-;;  Oh well.  At least it was sort of a relief to find out that I didn't just miss a whole bunch of stuff, rather just picked up the wrong book.

Mike and I dyed Easter eggs together :D

We also went out to dinner with a bunch of his friends, and saw Blue Thunder's twin!  Apparently, one of his friends owns it, too!

My phone is getting progressively worse.  I have the extended battery on it, and that originally increased its life to more than 48 hours.  Now, it'll last between 36 and 48 hours.  Upgrades have never existed for the OS, so all the apps that are being created and upgraded to perform better on the new version of Android just make them run more poorly on mine.  For awhile, Ingress wouldn't even work, but somehow that managed to start working again (although Mike and I haven't really been playing.)  I can't use nearly any new apps that come out.  Phone calls and text messages are iffy at best.  Mass texting is barely an option anymore.

Have my eye on the Samsung Galaxy S4 (http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxys4/).  The prospective release date for Verizon is May 30th, which is a whole month after AT&T, so hopefully that'll be enough time to get some good reviews out for it.  I don't want my plan to change, so I will most likely buy the phone outright.  Hoping that will not incur an over $500 cost… will probably just continue to deal with my current phone if it does.  Wait for a Christmas sale/deal with them.  I definitely plan on buying the smallest-sized model (16GB, I believe), since that's what I currently have, and a 16GB SD card on top of that, and I'm no where near filling the phone up.

My Network+ certification studying is going really well!  I should be taking (and passing!) the test before summer :D

  • What day is it again?

This may seem a bit sudden, and it was to me at first as well, but I'm so excited, I just can't keep it a secret any longer...

Last weekend, Michael asked me to marry him, and I accepted!! :D  We're flying out to Scotland in two weeks for the ceremony, since he's a ginger and that's where they come from (amirite?)  I know it's sudden, but we both thought eloping would be the best option for the both of us.  We'll be back after a short vacation to have a party here in town, too :)  It's going to be super exciting!!  (Plus, there will be cake!!)

And when I didn't think things could get better than that... I was offered a tech job in DC, which I have tentatively accepted!  It'll be a huge change, but Mike said he'll support me in all that I want to do, so that definitely helps :D  We'll have to start looking for a place pretty soon...

Sorry for the quick, short post.  So much to do, and so little time!  There will be pictures and details later, I'm sure ;D

  • Because we had a choice

Hanging out with @justgotspaid while she gets ready for the next big chapter in her life.  Woo!  Going to miss her :(

Mike and I spent this weekend out in Columbia, SC with his brother and fiance at their wedding shower party thing.  There was cake, so I can definitely call it a party!  Three cakes even :D  There were probably 50-60 people all gathered together, none of which I knew!  Neither did Mike much either, so we just hung out together for the most part :)  It was nice to spend time with Greg and Alyssa, since I've only met them once or twice in passing (and then Gator Nationals.)  Spending time with either of Mike's brothers really exemplifies some of his traits, and it's cute what they all have in common :D

They had a cute kitten that looked like an ocelot :)

    Cutting cake practice!

Everyone seemed to be sports fans...

It rained quite a bit on Saturday, but it was nice and relaxing if you ask me :)

On our way to SC, we stopped in Darien, GA for a little Ingressing.  The town had multiple unclaimed portals, and we were excited to capture them for ourselves... however, when we stepped out of the vehicle we were attacked by swarms of aggressive gnats!  It was horrendously annoying :P  Still stuck around to take them all, and make fields :d

Just picked up Organ Trail, Half Minute Hero, and The Binding of Issac on Steam this weekend, all for $8!  Played some of Organ Trail thus far, and it's hilarious.  If its intention is to be like Oregon Trail, but with zombies, it's exceeding expectations :)

  • Watch out for the angels

Got called into work this year for Gator Nationals.  Was super early in the morning, and it took a few hours to get everything working again, but I used it to my advantage and called Mike to come out and join me at the races.  We got inside just as the ceremony was starting, and he teased his older brother who was also there with pictures from the front line.  He came down to join us, and I was able to get him in with us.  Last year I was up at the front lines, too, but it was rained-out.  This time I got to actually enjoy cars and motorcycles racing :D  Was pretty fun!

I was in desperate need of having the oil in my car changed, as it was about 2 months overdue :o  Mike offered to do it, so I bought the stuff, and he went to get started... but couldn't get the bolt off the oil filter!  He was worried about tightening it rather than loosening, so he double-checked with his vehicle to ensure he was doing it properly.  Even though he was, he still couldn't manage to loosen the bolt on Blue Thunder :(  Just when we were about to give up... his twin Clinton came by and managed to remove the bolt for Mike :D  Apparently, Clinton was looking to get his hands dirty, so he also worked on fixing the broken lawn mower while Mike changed my car's oil and his own.

Who let the dogs out?! (hyuk hyuk hyuk)

Mike bought me flowers yesterday for no reason at all.  He's so sweet to me :D

Tested the new Redbox streaming trial on the XBox last night.  It's horrible, with absolutely no selection :P

Bunch of indie games on sale in Steam this week.  There's about 7 on my wishlist right now and it would be just under $20 for all of them.  So tempting!
