    You just might get it

Jacksonville house hunting was a complete success today, and so much more enjoyable than the two times I went in Gainesville.  Not only was almost every (save for one or two) place we saw today 10 times better than anything I saw in Gainesville, but they were all just at or under my price cap.  One place, the second one we saw, was my absolute favourite.  The place has some building structural integrity issues that the builders are resolving, but everything else about the unit was perfect.  My Realtor's going to look into the issues and make sure everything checks out, and if it does, I'm so bidding on it.  I love that condo.  Another that we saw was almost as good as that one, and there was a third that was good enough to make the best of the day list.  My Realtor is going to check to see what other properties are available in the three complexes, so I have more options to choose from, if I decide to move forward with any of those areas.

Really happy I switched Jacksonville Realtors.  My first just didn't seem to be interested at all in actually helping me find a place.  Demetria is so wonderful, and was everything that I would want in a Realtor.

Was nice spending all day with KK.  She had never been house hunting before, so she had the first-timer excitement.  It raised my spirits about hunting before we began :)  I appreciated her coming with me, as I trust her opinion, and she'll be living there.  After we got back into town, we stopped at D'lites for a little snack.  One of today's flavors was Fluffer Nutter Fudge.  How gross, huh?

    Michael Buble, helloooooooo???

Going house hunting in Jacksonville for the first time tomorrow.  Kaitlyn's coming along too, so it should be fun.  Going to be spending just about all day looking, as far as I know anyway.  My new Realtor is the wife of our family financial advisor, so I already trust her.  Seems nice over the phone and email; actually much more interested in helping me out than the last Jacksonville Realtor I had that I cancelled on.

Had lunch with justgotspaid the other week.  Was fun catching up, and we totally need to get together again so she can become addicted to The Dog Island ;)

Have family friends in town this weekend.  Carol and Sonny, the same Carol that visited me in CA ^^  They're fun.  Love to drink and play cards, so what could be better?  Already played a game of Big Bertha and Apples to Apples, both of which I won.  Yar.

Spent this past weekend in Charleston with James.  Had an absolutely wonderful weekend.  Friday night we went to the beach.  Was so very gorgeous.  Saturday we went to an arcade with his sister, played 18 holes of mini-golf, and a round of go-karting.  There was much fun had.  His dad made delicious burgers later that evening, and I convinced his Aunt and Mother to play cards with us.  A game of Big Bertha and Apples to Apples, of which I won both surprisingly enough.  KK and I believe there's a newbie's advantage when playing Apples to Apples.  Sunday we went out to a very large park, complete with an animal exhibit-like area.  I cooked for his family that evening: my handmade gnocchi with a red vodka cream sauce, complete with lava cakes for dessert.  Everything went over really well, so I was pretty happy about that.  Went to see Couples Retreat afterward.  Was funny, not the best movie ever, but not terrible.  I left on Monday, but not before having lunch at a little Chinese place I picked out from Urbanspoon.  I think it lived up to its high rating quite well.  Overall it was a great trip.  Nice to get out of Gainesville :)

    Function

Wow, has it really been that long since I've updated?  Been working mostly, on and off anyway.  Started house hunting in Jacksonville, got myself a Realtor there now.  Kaitlyn's totally down for moving to Jacksonville, being somewhere that isn't Gainesville.  Close enough so that the families don't freak out, but far enough away that we have our own space and can experience something new :)

I had a wonderfully excellent birthday last Wednesday.  Started off with 6 hours of work from Copia, which I'm sure to any normal person would be a huge disappointment on their birthday.  On the contrary, I was ecstatic.  Hours are always good, plus I didn't have any day plans.  Kaitlyn came over in the afternoon, we had ice cream cake with my family, and then left to meet up with Ryan and Swanson.  We went over to Dragonfly Rolls n Bowls for some sushi bowls, and then to the theater for Zombieland.  Both the meal and the movie were on Ryan as a birthday present to me :)  MT and his girlfriend met us at the theater, and there were a good number of people in the theater with us, maybe 20 or so.

The movie was epic.  Absolutely hilarious.  If you like Left 4 Dead, Shaun of the Dead, zombies at all, fucking see this movie.  You will love it.  We had a very active theater group, and I don't mean just the people we saw it with, but everyone in the theater were laughing together, applauding, it was one of the best movie experiences I've had in a long time.

Afterwards, Kaitlyn and I returned briefly to Ryan's apartment so I can say thanks and goodbye.  Then it was off to Stubbie's to meet up with Kai for some drinking.  Tried some new ciders, stayed there until 130 in the morning.  Had a great time, just talking and whatnot.  Good stuff!

So yeah, I had an awesome birthday.  One of the best in a long time :D

Kaitlyn and I bought the materials for our Halloween costumes.  Hopefully we'll begin pattern construction today, unless I get work (which would also be good!)  We're going to be messengers from City of Ember.  Should be awesome :D

I beat Persona 3: FES finally.  Picked up Persona 4, and I love it thus far!  They've updated quite a bit from 3, mostly for the better.  Switched up some stuff too to keep it new.  I still prefer 3's soundtrack though.

    Subject-less

Hung out with Ian while he was in town during the first half of last week.  Food was eaten, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was watched, and an early birthday gift was given.  Movie was great, I really liked it.  The Father-Son relationship throughout was awfully heartwarming.  Not to mention, the tech-unsavvy Dad reminded me of my own.  Very cute.  Bally Hoo's has changed as a restaurant, and I feel little reason to go there anymore for anything other than their bananas foster.  They don't even serve gator anymore!  What kind of a restaurant that brands themselves as a grill serves sushi, anyway?

James came to visit from Thursday night until Sunday afternoon.  Watched the two last episodes of Eureka including the finale, the end of his football game, and had Chinese take-out for dinner.

Friday I had some work, of course, and we visited the Devil's Millhopper.  The real Florida.  We were the only people who visited that day who paid (donated).  For shame Devil's Millhopper visitors!  Took him to Satchel's for dinner, since a visit to Gainesville isn't complete without one of their pizzas.  Made it just in time to the movie theater afterward to see 9.  Pretty good movie, although it was very short.

Saturday we went over to Miya Sushi.  Ordered 2 pieces each of 蛸, tuna, fake crab, and 鰻 にぎり.  Had him try one of each in that order.  Apparently that was least favorable to least terrible.  He said the 鰻 wasn't too bad :)  Let him pick out a roll after he decided they weren't so bad, and he chose the black and white (surprise).  Delicious!  Drove over to Jen and Richard's to say hi and happy birthday.  Gave Richard The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe DVD as a gift since I didn't have time to stay.  Dinner with the family: lasagna.  Helped Mom clean up, then it was time for cards.  James won Big Bertha and Apples to Apples, the former with my assistance.  Watched Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy before bed; although, I think James passed out during the second half.

Sunday afternoon was spent walking around out at Lake Alice where we saw alligators and turtles.  Actually got fairly close to an alligator before I realized it was there o.O  After some D'lites frozen yogurt, James headed home.

    Good times :)

Sis will be home in about 2 weeks.  I can't wait!  She's going to teach me to rock climb, as I've only ever been once and it was a very long time ago.  I was thinking about us doing something together for our birthdays.  Maybe do an interest check on gathering people together for a trip to Hall-O-Scream or something :)  Oh, and we need to make our messenger ponchos!  If we do get those going maybe I'll do that for Halloween instead of Rorschach.  Ooh, we should totally get a Carvel cake for our birthdays too :D

Almost done with Persona 3 FES: The Answer.  I should go finish that...

Opened my own YouTube account, even have a video up already.  I'm sure I'll have other things to put up eventually, especially considering I'm purchasing a video camera.  Too bad I had to pick a new one that isn't readily available just yet.  It will come eventually though :)  Two new colors come out tomorrow, so maybe they will get a stock of black in.  If not, pink it is!

I think my interview went fairly well.  The person who interviewed me was the person I would be working under.  He's a WoW-er, information I gathered when I heard his phone go off (he uses the murloc noise for text messages.)  I didn't bring it up though, didn't think that would be professional, and wasn't sure if it hinder or help my chances so I didn't want to risk it.  He said he'd put me down on the list for second interviews.  Some higher-ups have to make the next selection.  Haven't heard back from the other jobs, so we'll see how that goes.

Did some more property searching yesterday.  My Realtor is finally back in town.  Put together an Excel sheet of all the places I've found doing Internet searches and sent it over to her.  She said we could meet up tomorrow or Wednesday and take a look at some spot.  Hopefully that goes well.

Been trying out several different television shows.  Gave Psychoville a shot with the first two episodes.  It's about eccentric people in various British towns, all connected somehow to a death that occurred in the past.  Didn't really interest me though.

About 7 episodes into the first season of Mad Men.  Still not sure how I feel about it, although James tells me I'm far too invested in the show to not like it now.  I feel like the characters are finally branching out, rather than just being so dull and flat.  Interested to see where they take it.

Picked up A Girl's Guide to 21st Century Sex as well.  Was expecting it to be like most other shows on sex like those on the Discovery channel: out-dated and about as informative as a high school anatomy class.  Instead, it has surprised me.  There actually is a female host, with many experts from a range of fields, and they cover several topics in a single show.  It seems that each show includes one "how-to" session, a panel on a chosen STI, review of a sexual position, and general tips and information throughout.

Went over to Ryan's apartment on Friday to hang out with him and his roommates, of which I can actually remember all of their names now.  And it turns out that Stephanie is not MT's girlfriend, rather she is the fourth roommate.  However, I did get to see a compromising rape picture of MT and his girlfriend.  Also got to meet Ryan's friend Josh who was having computer viral issues.  It does seem that MT is versed in the tech world as well.  Paired up with Ryan against MT and Swanson for some Double Dash.  We managed to get third place after an All Cup Tour, so perhaps we only mostly suck.  Few rounds of Super Smash Brothers Brawl afterward, not sure who was the overall winner in that.  We all did pretty well this time around :)  Hanging out with them kind of reminds me of how old I am sometimes.
